Basement Waterproofing

Basement Waterproofing

Your home’s foundation serves a critical purpose. Discovering cracks or damp walls in your basement is terrible for a homeowner as it might mean you have a water intrusion problem, and will need to waterproof your basement. Foundations leak for various reasons: a congested weeping tile system, where the weeping tile can longer flow due to a blockage of debris, soils or tree roots. Horizontal or vertical cracks in the foundation, or separation of blocks, voids where the foundation and footing meet, allow water to enter into the basement. Your house was built on a lower terrain, or was never waterproofed properly during the construction process; particularly common in older buildings.

Common problems caused by wet basements:

  • Excessive mold and mildew.
  • Allergic discomfort.
  • Additional humidity throughout your home.
  • Increased energy costs.
  • Musty air travelling to upper living areas.
  • Mildew in drywall - known to be toxic.
  • Foundation issues leading to expensive repairs.
  • Flood exposure which can cause long term damage.
  • Insufficient water flow if the water is caused by a leaking pipe.

Key benefits of basement waterproofing:

  • Increased property value.
  • Structurally sound foundation.
  • A healthier home for you and your family.
  • A warmer basement in the winter.
  • Increased living space.
  • A more attractive and comfortable home.
  • Sometimes the usable space in your basement can be doubled once complete.

Our Solutions

Drainage systems

The simplest, most effective way to stop basement flooding is to install a full-perimeter drain system in your basement. Incorrectly installed drainage systems can pour the water toward the basement wall if the downspout is placed too close to it which can cause leaks. Each of our drainage systems are designed to address a different, unique challenge that you may be facing. Some of these challenges involve the way your home has been designed, while others address unusual basement water issues. We take pride in our ability to provide homeowners a drainage system installation quickly and successfully.

How it works

To start we lay a drain field of filtration stone along the perimeter of your foundation. Over the top of the drain field, we install a water expressway called the Fast Track. Fast Track’s unique and innovative design collects water from the two primary sources responsible for a wet basement. Drain-Eze is then installed on top of the footing to channel an additional seepage to the Fast Track. Drain-Eze directs floodwaters from the face of your walls and cold-joint between your basement footing and walls into the Fast Track which carries the water around quickly and quietly to your sump pump system.

Benefits of your Fast Track Basement System

  • Top-notch performance of your Fast Track hybrid system will keep your basement fresh and dry giving you peace of mind that your wet basement days are over.
  • Narrow slits throughout the Fast Track’s main channel prevent solids from entering the system. This self-filtering design never needs maintenance - a key design feature that sets the Fast Track far ahead of the competition.
  • Rapid flow design is capable of handling the most severe water problems. Fast Track channel flows clean year after year.
  • Inspection ports are installed for your convenience.

Sump Pump Systems

When you have a perimeter drainage system installed in your home, your sump pump is the least disruptive and most effective way to keep your basement dry. Our certified basement waterproofers will install a complete sump pump system in your home and ensure that it’s powerful and reliable enough to keep your basement dry. The process of installing a sump pump system in your basement is as follows:

  • A sump pump pit is excavated and liner and pump are placed in the pit.
  • We install a perimeter drain system and a special outlet connects the perimeter drain to the sump pump system.
  • The floor is restored for a clean, finished look.
  • Our sump pump installation crew takes extra care to leave your basement clean and clear of debris.

4 warning signs of a crack in the foundation

Foundation cracks form as your home naturally settles over time. Although this is normal, there are four causes for concern as they could be a sign of something more serious:

  1. Cracks on walls, over doorways, windows, or ceiling corners
  2. Door(s) start to jam or not latch
  3. Cracks in vinyl or ceramic tile over a concrete floor
  4. Window(s) becomes harder to open and close or won’t close completely
